東京オリンピック・パラリンピック競技⼤会組織委員会 Tokyo2020「一年後へ。一歩進む。〜＋１（プラスワン）メッセージ TOKYO2020」

2020 年7 ⽉24 ⽇。
東京、国⽴競技場。
本当なら、この場所で世界中から集まったアスリートと6 万⼈を超える⼤観衆が、
燃えさかる聖⽕を⾒上げているはずだった。

S：
ある⽇、突然、未来は変わる。

NA(池江)：
今まで当たり前だと思っていた未来は、⼀夜にして別世界のように変わる。
それは、私も⼤きな病気をしたからよく分かる。
⼈と会うこと、外を歩くこと、プールの中で全⾝を使って泳ぐこと、
その全てが、こんなにも愛おしく、こんなにも幸せだったなんて、
病気の前は気づいていなかった。
2020 年という⽬標が急になくなった他のアスリート達も同じ気持ちなんだと思う。
オリンピックやパラリンピックのような、
⼤きな⼤会に出るアスリートにとって、
練習やプレッシャーは相当にキツい。
正直、逃げ出したいこともある。
でもそれがなくなってそれがなくなって初めて、
ああ、やっぱり⾃分はどうしようもなく、このスポーツが好きなんだと、
⼼の底から思ったはずだ。
私も、そうだった。

S：
1 年後、

NA(池江)：
1 年後、オリンピックやパラリンピックができる世界になっていたら、
どんなに素敵だろうと思う。
アスリート達は、その未来を信じて、
今この瞬間も、できるすべての努⼒をしている。
どんなに⼩さな努⼒でも、それが無駄だとは決して思わない。
スポーツがくれる勇気や⼈とのつながりは、
本当にかけがえのないものだから。
そして、もう⼀つ、
スポーツは、決してアスリートだけでできるものではない。
そのことを忘れないようにしたい。
これからも、感謝と尊敬を胸に、前に進んでいこうと思う。
⼀⼈のアスリートとして、
⼀⼈の⼈間として、
TOKYO2020 ＋1

その炎は、まだ消えてはいない。
アスリートのために、今できる最⼤限の準備を
TOKYO はしたいと思う。

Olympic Studium
Athletes from all over the world
should be here alongside sixty thousand spectators，
gazing up at the Olympic flame.
Suddenly， everything changed.
The future that we took for granted transformed，over night，
into something completely different.
I understand what thatʼs like， because I experienced the same thing.
When I had a life-threatening illness.
Meeting people. Walking outside.
Using my entire body to swim in the pool.
These simple pleasures are all so precious，
yet before my illness I took them for granted.
The other athletes who lost Tokyo 2020 must feel the same.
The goal theyʼd been working toward suddenly disappeared.
For an Olympic or Paralympic level athletes，
the training is extremely demanding.
and the mental pressure is intense.
There are days when you want to run away from it all.
But when all of the suddenly disappears，
you truly appreciate how much it meant to you.
and how much you loved the sport.
Thatʼs what happened to me.
Imagine the world in a year：
a world where the curtain is set to rise
on the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Right now， athletes around the world
are looking to that future， pushing themselves to the limit.
No effort， no matter how small， is ever wasted.
The confidence that sports inspires，
the human connections it helps us make are truly irreplaceable.
One last thing，
Sports is not just about the athletes.
Sports show us the importance of solidarity.
I never want to forget that.
I want to remember my gratitude and respect
for all those who contribute to their society
as I take my next step.
As an athelete， as a person.
Hope fuels the flame.
